Brooke Waggoner On Mountain Stage

Thursday, March 21, 2013

Singer-songwriter Brooke Waggoner makes her third appearance on Mountain Stage, recorded live at the Culture Center Theater in Charleston, W.Va. A native of Louisiana, Waggoner earned a degree in music composition and orchestration from Louisiana State University. She had long been set on scoring music for cinema and television, but eventually began focusing on her own projects.

Not surprisingly, Waggoner's music is its own unique combination of pop, Broadway and classical influences. In any given set, it's not uncommon to hear nods to Chopin, Simon & Garfunkel and Rogers & Hammerstein, all in a single song. A powerful pianist, Waggoner is backed here by members of the Mountain Stage band, with Ammed Solomon on drums and Steve Hill on bass. Her set features songs from her most recent album, Originator.

Set List
  • "Shift Shape"
  • "Squint"
  • "Rumble"
  • "From The Nest"
