New Port Authority Commissioner Picked

NEW YORK, NY May 22, 2008 —New York's State Senate has confirmed a new Port Authority commissioner.

Attorney H. Sidney Holmes III will join the 12-member board of the bi-state agency. The commissioners are equally split between New York and New Jersey.

Holmes is a senior partner with Winston Strawn's corporate law department. He's experienced in public finance and has served as bond counsel for the city's Industrial Development Agency.

He's taking the spot formerly held by Pataki appointee, Charles Gargano.
