Fossella Set to Decide Political Future

WNYC Newsroom

NEW YORK, NY May 10, 2008 —Congressman Vito Fossella is expected to make a decision this weekend about whether to resign. The Staten Island lawmaker was charged with drunken driving last week. He later admitted that he fathered a child from an extramarital affair. The New York Post and the Staten Island Advance have called for his resignation. Fossella, who also represents part of Brooklyn, is the only Republican congressman from New York City. He faced a tough re-election challenge in 2006, and Democrats were hoping to unseat him this year.
