Artists Trek to East Williamsburg

by Siddhartha Mitter

NEW YORK, NY May 09, 2008 —The East Williamsburg industrial area is one of the remaining manufacturing districts in the city. But, it’s also the latest refuge for arts organizations and artists fleeing high rents in Manhattan.

WNYC’s Siddhartha Mitter reports on a group of international artists who are making the neighborhood their base.

OUTRO: The International Studio and Curatorial Program holds open studios in East Williamsburg today through Monday.
