NEW YORK, NY May 08, 2008 —In New Jersey, Senator Clinton's super delegates appear to be holding firm in their support for the New York Senator.
WNYC's Bob Hennelly has this update.
This morning's Star Ledger reported that Clinton super-delegate June Fischer’s allegiance was "in flux" after Tuesday's disappointing primary results. But when reached at her Scotch Plains home today she told WNYC she would only stop supporting Senator Clinton if Clinton quit the race. She says she's been called by President Clinton twice, once in January and than six weeks ago.
Gov. Jon Corzine, who was one of Senator Clinton’s earliest boosters, continues to strongly support her.
But he now concedes Clinton faces a steep up hill climb to the nomination. Meanwhile fellow super delegate Senator Frank Lautenberg, facing a bitter primary battle this June, is staying neutral as is central Jersey Congressman Rush Holt.
For WNYC in New Jersey I am Bob Hennelly.
