Bell's Supporters Plan Spring Protest Campaign
by Soterios Johnson
NEW YORK, NY May 07, 2008 —Sean Bell's fiancee and the Reverend Al Sharpton will be in front of One Police Plaza at 3 pm to protest the not-guilty verdicts for three officers in Bell's shooting death.
The event is called a "pray-in," but Sharpton and his supporters are expecting to be arrested for civil disobedience.
There are five other "pray-in" sites around the city, including near the Queensborough Bridge, Midtown Tunnel and Holland Tunnel.
Protest planners say this is the launch of a spring campaign designed to keep the issues raised by the Bell case front and center.
