Artists Sketch City from the High Line
by Jenna Flanagan
NEW YORK, NY May 05, 2008 —Friends of the High Line are offering sketch classes to experienced and in-experienced artists.
REPORTER: High Line spokesperson Meredith Taylor, says the classes will be taught by artist Ann DeVere on a section of the line that wraps around the Hudson Rail Yards and has views of the Hudson River as well as a nearby heli-pad.
Taylor says DeVere wants her classes to incorporate the many industrial things going on around the line with the raw nature of the high line itself.
TAYLOR: That's something that she was really interested in too. Was sort of just watching the helicopters and thinking about how to incorporate some of the uses that are going on around the high line into the classes.
REPORTER: Tomorrows first class of 20 is already filled up, but interested artists can visit the highline.org for sign up information.
Classes cost $20 for High Line members and $50 for non-members.
