Fossella Faces Jail Time Over Drunk Driving
by Jenna Flanagan
NEW YORK, NY May 03, 2008 —Congressman Vito Fossella faces five days in jail if he's convicted of drunk driving.
The Republican was pulled over in Alexandria, Virginia Thursday; his blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. At a press conference in Brooklyn Friday, Fossella called the incident a learning experience, and a mistake that he would never repeat.
FOSSELLA: I take full responsibility for my actions and recognize that I've embarrassed my family the constituents of the 13th congressional district and of course myself.
REPORTER: Vito Fossella represents Staten Island and parts of Brooklyn. He's up for reelection this year.
