NEW YORK, NY April 28, 2008 —There are renewed concerns about overtime costs at the Port Authority.
After those costs rose by 12% in 2006, the agency paid a consultant more than $400,000 to study its staffing practices and come up with reforms.
But the next year, things got worse when overtime costs increased 14% to almost $49 million. That was the 2nd highest dollar amount in the Port Authority's history.
Port Authority Police Superintendent, Samuel Plumeri, says overtime is needed to fill critical shifts.
