NEW YORK, NY April 26, 2008 —The Reverend Al Sharpton led another rally Saturday, after Friday's acquittal of three police detectives involved in the fatal shooting of Sean Bell.
REPORTER: Among those who gathered at Sharpton's National Action Network headquarters Friday was Bronx resident Katherine Mavery, who wants answers about the police's use of deadly force:
MAVERY: What are their guidelines and procedures? And when and how do they draw the line? Something has to change within the system -- the institution of security.
REPORTER: The detectives could still face a federal civil rights prosecution, a demand of Sharpton and the Bell family. Relatives of the victims have sued the city, and those cases carry the potential for multimillion-dollar payouts. The officers, who had been on paid leave, still face possible departmental charges that could result in their firing.
