NEW YORK, NY April 16, 2008 —One of the biggest stars figures in Indian pop culture will play Carnegie Hall tomorrow night: the Bollywood film singer Asha Bhosle. Asha has recorded thousands of songs, and this year she celebrates her 75th birthday and her 65th year in show business. WNYC's Rob Weisberg spoke with the singer and filed this appreciation.
