NEW YORK, NY April 15, 2008 —When the Pope arrives in New York on Friday, he'll make an historic visit to an Upper East Side synagogue. Children there, in the Park East Day School, are practicing songs in Hebrew to welcome the pontiff.

REPORTER: 10-year-old Jonathan Czyzyk says his favorite is the Shuh-Ma, a central prayer in morning and evening worship services. Here's how he'd explain it to the Pope.

CZYZYK: I'd say, like, it's a special way of saying our prayers to God and... you could try it if you want, I guess.

REPORTER: Rabbi Arthur Schneier says the pontiff's visit sends a message of hope, like the Jewish holiday of Passover...which starts on Saturday night.
