by Kathleen Horan
NEW YORK, NY April 15, 2008 —Today is April 15 - known as the deadline to file your taxes. It's also the day of the year accountants are treated like rock stars as they help panicked procrastinators.
Karen Latney Castillo prepares taxes for the Lower East Side People's Federal Credit Union. She says people are often so relived once they get her help, they bring gifts.
CASTILLO: They give me - look this is what I got - I have a four pack of sharpie highlighters, I have wrist ... they are party favors but they are key ring chains, and a be my -- valentine box ... a ten box.
REPORTER: Castillo says she'll start work at five this morning and work until about midnight - preparing taxes for about 200 people.
