Fallout from Clinton Campaign Shakeup Continues

by Andrea Bernstein

NEW YORK, NY April 07, 2008 —Mark Penn, Sen. Hillary Clinton’s chief presidential campaign strategist, was removed from his position after it was revealed that he had met with the Colombian government to promote a free trade deal with the South American nation. Clinton opposes the deal.

Larry Scanlon of AFSCME, one of Clinton's biggest union backers, is telling reporters that Penn was hurting her in Pennsylvania, considered a must-win state for Clinton. WNYC’s Andrea Bernstein tells Amy Eddings that Penn's dual role is shining the light on the little-known practice of political consultants working for business interests and foreign governments.
