BAM Revives Anti-Apartheid Play

by Brian Zumhagen

NEW YORK, NY April 06, 2008 —It's not every day that a piece of theater gets its creators detained. But that’s what happened 30 years ago in South Africa, when two black actors staged a play that challenged the rules of apartheid and asked tough questions about fundamental aspects of human identity. Now, that Tony-Award winning play, "Sizwei Banzi is Dead," is coming to the Brooklyn Academy of Music. WNYC's Brian Zumhagen talks about the play with theater critic Alisa Solomon.
