New Bill Mandates Recycling of Electronics

by WNYC Newsroom

NEW YORK, NY March 26, 2008 —Today, the City Council passed two bills mandating the recycling of old computers and t.v.’s. One bill is supported by Mayor Michael Bloomberg and is expected to get his signature. The other is thought by e-waste recycling supporters to be tougher, and it does not have the mayor’s support. Councilman Bill DeBlasio, who represents Park Slope, Brooklyn, was the primary sponsor of this legislation and he joins me now.
