Tibetans Vow to Continue Protests
by Kathleen Horan
NEW YORK, NY March 18, 2008 —Local Tibetan groups say they'll continue protesting here in the city as long as there's unrest and violence back home.
Yesterday, hundreds of people gathered outside the U.N. as the deadline for Tibetan protesters to surrender to Chinese police drew near. Today, they'll be back outside the Chinese Consulate.
Tenzin Dorjee says he's committed to the protests because he believes other countries and the U.N. need to intervene.
TENZIN: So we really need the global community, including the denizens of New York City, to help us at this critical moment to save the Tibetan lives.
REPORTER: The Police Department says 22 protesters were arrested at yesterday's U.N. rally.
