McCain Holds NYC Fundraiser
by WNYC Newsroom
NEW YORK, NY March 11, 2008 —John McCain visits Hillary Clinton's turf tonight to try to fill his campaign coffers.
The Republican presidential nominee holds a fundraiser in the city tonight, one of a string of fundraisers around the US this week. McCain is trying to catch up with Clinton and Barack Obama, who've both out-raised him by huge margins.
Tickets for tonight's event at the Plaza Hotel, billed as "cocktails and conversation," go for $2,300 for a private reception with the Arizona Senator and $1,000 for the general reception.
As of the end of January, McCain had raised $55 million. By contrast, Clinton had raised $138 million and Obama had raised $141 million.
