Clinton Campaign Says "No Comment" on Joint Ticket Remarks

by Andrea Bernstein

NEW YORK, NY March 05, 2008 —Hillary Clinton's campaign is refusing comment on her remarks that she'd consider a ticket with Barack Obama.

Clinton stoked talk of the joint ticket by saying on CBS's Early Show, "it may come to that." But, her chief strategist Mark Penn brushed off talk of a Clinton-Obama ticket saying quote "we are seeking the nomination. I'm not going beyond that."

Clinton advisor Harold Ickes also spoke to reporters on a conference call. He indicted the campaign isn't backing down. He pushed the case that allowing super delegates to make up their own minds is a normal part of the candidate selection process.

In an overlapping conference call, Obama advisor David Axelrod promised a stepped-up campaign against Clinton. He said this was to make sure they "are being measured by the same yardstick."
