NEW YORK, NY February 06, 2008 —Domestic airline delays in 2007 were the 2nd worst on record.
The Transportation Department says flights in the US were late more than 26% of the time last year.
That was a slightly better performance than in 2000, when airlines were tardy 27.4% of the time.
The industry's poor performance reflects rising passenger demand coupled with congestion in the skies and on tarmacs.
Newark, Kennedy and LaGuardia had the lowest on-time arrival rates last year.
