NJ Says New Bush Budget is Bad for State
by Amy Eddings
NEW YORK, NY February 05, 2008 —New Jersey's two U.S. senators say the federal budget proposed by President Bush is bad for the state. The record-setting $3 trillion budget increases funding for the military but holds domestic spending flat.
Democrats Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez say it would cut crucial programs and services in New Jersey. The Senators say the budget would slash federal funding for port security, fire departments, and Amtrak. Congress must approve the budget before it becomes law.
