Tough Fight Expected in New Jersey
by Bob Hennelly
NEW YORK, NY February 05, 2008 —Today, both the Clinton and Obama presidential campaigns will be out in force at transit hubs across New Jersey to remind voters to go to the polls. WNYC's Bob Hennelly has more.
It will be a grueling marathon until the polls close at 8 pm for the Obama and Clinton camps.
Get Out the Vote ground troops will be deployed statewide.
On behalf of the Clinton campaign, Governor Corzine will do a tour of duty this morning at the Journal Square PATH station.
Washington D.C. Mayor Adrien Fenty will team up with Newark Mayor Cory Booker on behalf of Senator Obama.
County election officials are expecting a heavy turnout today, noting strong new voter registration numbers and requests for absentee ballots.
Unlike New York state, New Jersey's unaffiliated voters can vote in today's primary.
Voters will still have to come back in June for yet another primary, which will determine who gets to run for Congress.
For WNYC, I'm Bob Hennelly.
