Albee Honored at Rainbow Room
by Brigid Bergin
NEW YORK, NY February 05, 2008 —REPORTER: Tyne Daly and Eartha Kitt - just some of the stars who gathered to toast Edward Albee at the Rainbow Room last night.
The evening was a birthday celebration for the playwright and soon-to-be octogenarian who's written modern classics including "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and "The Goat."
Albee's actual birthday is March 12th. He says he's wary of anything that resembles a lifetime achievement award.
ALBEE: You know, I've got 2 more plays in my head right now that I plan to write. One this summer and one the next summer. You know, I keep going all the time.
REPORTER: Albee's latest work, "Me, Myself and I," made its debut at the McCarter Theatre in New Jersey last month.
His producing partner, Elizabeth McCann, says she plans to bring the show to a theater in the city this fall.
