Writers Guild Deal
Striking writers have reached interim contract agreements with 4 New York-based independent filmmakers.
by WNYC Newsroom
NEW YORK, NY February 04, 2008 —The settlement appears to be another step toward ending the national work stoppage by the Writers Guild of America that's brought film and television production on both coasts to a virtual standstill.
The announcement didn't offer details of the agreements, but said they were "similar" to agreements reached earlier between the writers guild and 13 other film and TV production companies.
The announcement follows reports from Los Angeles over the weekend of a possible breakthrough in union talks with Hollywood studios.
