New Cash for Local Transportation
Transit systems in our area are expected to see a big influx of federal security dollars.

NEW YORK, NY February 01, 2008 —Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff will make the formal announcement this afternoon, during a scheduled appearance at Grand Central Terminal with Governor Spitzer.
Congressional aides say transit systems in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut will receive more than $151 million in new grant money.
That's a more than 50% increase from last year.
