Homeless Count Underway
Hundreds of volunteers are counting the city's homeless people this morning for the 6th annual homeless count.
by WNYC Newsroom
NEW YORK, NY January 29, 2008 —The Department of Homeless Services says about 2,500 volunteers signed up to help count those people living on the streets, subways and parks.
The city tests the accuracy of the count by planting decoy homeless people around town and seeing what percentage of them are noticed.
