NEW YORK, NY January 23, 2008 —Four narcotics officers have been criminally charged for allegedly paying informants with drugs and drug money.
Also, a chief, an inspector and 2 captains in charge of narcotics investigations in Brooklyn have been stripped of their commands.
Two other officers have been suspended and another 14 officers who worked with them have been put on desk duty "as a precaution."
The case dates to back September, when officials say a narcotics officer forgot he was wearing a wire and allegedly made comments that suggested he may have stolen confiscated drugs.
