Weapons Cache Discovered in Brooklyn
by WNYC Newsroom
NEW YORK, NY January 22, 2008 —A man arrested when a weapons cache was discovered in his Brooklyn Heights apartment has also been charged in the neighborhood's anti-Semitic vandalism spree last September - that's according to police.
37-year-old Ivan Ivanov pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated harassment and criminal mischief as a hate crime for the anti-Semitic graffiti he painted on synagogues and homes in late September.
Ivanov also pleaded not guilty to charges of criminal possession of a weapon and reporting a false incident.
The weapons discovered in Ivanov's apartment included 8 pipe bombs, 3 guns and a crossbow.
The building was evacuated for several hours while the bomb squad investigated.
