Changes to FDNY Inspections
The city Fire Department has changed its inspection schedule to focus on larger and more complex construction and demolition sites.
by WNYC Newsroom
NEW YORK, NY January 14, 2008 —The changes come after the deadly blaze at the former Deutsche Bank building in lower Manhattan.
Under the revised plan, the Fire Department says it's requiring buildings less than 75 feet tall be inspected every 30 days, while taller buildings would remain on the current 15 day schedule.
A spokesman says the buildings that are a greater concern and present potentially a greater danger are those above 75 feet.
