Fugitive Caught in Mexico
Authorities have finally apprehended fugitive Otis Blunt after several weeks on the lam.
by WNYC Newsroom
NEW YORK, NY January 10, 2008 —Blunt and fellow inmate Jose Espinosa escaped from a Union County, New Jersey jail almost a month ago. Espinosa was captured in Elizabeth, only a mile away from the facility.
Blunt, meanwhile, managed to travel thousands of miles to Mexico City. He was arrested by Mexican authorities and transferred to the custody of US Federal Marshals.
No word yet on when Blunt will be returned to New Jersey, but when he does, the Reverend Al Sharpton may be there to greet him. Sharpton said Blunt asked him to help facilitate his surrender.
No official word yet on whether that happened. Sharpton is holding a press conference later this morning on Blunt's extradition.
