Clintons Campaign in Leadup to Caucus
by Andrea Bernstein
NEW YORK, NY January 03, 2008 —Senator Hillary Clinton faces her first electoral test outside New York state today when Iowans go to caucus. WNYC’s Andrea Bernstein reports from Des Moines.
In a hall stuffed way over capacity, former President Bill Clinton, dressed in black jeans and a blazer, introduced his wife as the only one ready to lead “from day one.”
That’s the theme both Clintons have been sounding as they make their final case to Iowa voters.
CLINTON: Let’s restore pride and progress in America! Let’s do it Iowa! And yes, together we will make history, let’s do it Iowa, let’s do it for America! Thank you all and god bless you!
But drawing huge crowds of his own, Barack Obama was arguing he also could make history. Obama argued that "we don’t need better game playing in Washington, we need to put an end to the game playing."
And John Edwards said he’s the only candidate who will stand up to corporate control of Washington. Reporting from Des Moines, Iowa for WNYC, I’m Andrea Bernstein.
