Smooth Start for Christmas Travel
by WNYC Newsroom
NEW YORK, NY December 24, 2007 —As last-minute travelers head for their destinations this Christmas Eve, it seems to be a smooth ride for most.
REPORTER: Jesse Conrad from Tampa, Florida, was at Penn Station this morning for her train to Washington, D.C. and said the travel has been better than she expected.
CONRAD: It's busy but people are being pretty nice, you see lots of happy people with Santa hats and flowers and presents, and people are a lot more cheerful than I thought they would be.
REPORTER: Officials say flights at the three major local airports, as well as trains out of Penn Station, are operating on or close to schedule.
