Would-Be Thieves Hold Up FED EX Truck

by Bob Hennelly

NEW YORK, NY December 21, 2007 —A Fed Ex truck loaded with holiday presents that was hijacked early this morning on the far west side was recovered in Brooklyn. All the contents of the 18-wheeler were intact. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says the Fed Ex driver was duped by three men pretending they were cops.

KELLY: They showed him a badge. They also made statements to him they paid a few hundred dollars for the badge. Did you believe it, or words to that effect?

REPORTER: Kelly says the hijackers weren't able to get into the trailer, where the packages were. The truck driver was held by the hijackers for a few hours and then released without injury. No arrests have been made.
