Filings for Harlem Explosion
WNYC Newsroom
NEW YORK, NY October 15, 2007 —Attorneys for the man whose family was injured in a Harlem gas explosion and his landlord head back to court this morning.
REPORTER: Rassass Algaithi's wife and 4 children were hospitalized with critical injuries after last weekend's explosion in their building. Their attorney, Larry Kramer, says his client is frustrated that he hasn't been allowed back into his apartment.
KRAMER: We want access so we can begin our investigation with respect to the cause and origin of the explosion.
REPORTER: Kramer also wants anyone who smelled gas at the building at 10 W. 119th St. to come forward. Papers will be filed today in the first step of what could be a lawsuit against the landlord. The landlord's attorney, Richard Eniclerico, says they always wanted to grant access to the building but were waiting for safety clearance.
