NYU To Set Up Campus in United Arab Emirates

NEW YORK, NY October 15, 2007 —The government of Abu Dhabi has agreed to finance a new liberal arts campus for NYU. In exchange, the university hopes to build a significant presence in the Middle East. WNYC’s All Things Considered host, Amy Eddings, speaks with Abdelkhaleq Abdulla, a professor of political science at Emirates University in Abu Dhabi, about why the country wants NYU there, and what kind of academic freedom NYU’s professors can expect.
