Giuliani Has Strong Lead in Garden State
by Bob Hennelly
NEW YORK, NY September 26, 2007 —Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani is coming to New Jersey the same day a Quinnipiac Poll says he has over a 3O point lead over other GOP presidential candidates in the Garden state. WNYC's Bob Hennelly has more.
Giuliani is headlining fundraiser for the Sommerset County GOP is Bridgewater and than he heads to Watchung for a house party that his campaign says will be one of a thousand nationwide linked by the Internet. He organized early in the state, wrapping up endorsements from most of the powerful county chairs months ago.
The former mayor is a familiar face at the New Jersey GOP dinners and on the local campaign trails....mostly because of his popularity in suburban bedroom communities. Also Giuliani's campaign has deep Jersey roots: campaign manager Mike DuHaime grew up in Passaic County and his father Richard served as a popular four-term county freeholder. For WNYC I am Bob Hennelly
