NEW YORK, NY September 17, 2007 —The MTA is going green. The agency has appointed a new Blue Ribbon Commission to study sustainability, or ways of reducing the MTA's carbon footprint. The panel includes environmental and planning experts from New York City, Long Island, Westchester and Connecticut and they'll hold their first meeting on Wednesday.

Joining Richard Hake is the chair of that commission, the developer Jonathan F.P. Rose. We're also joined by Ernest Tollerson, the MTA's Policy Director.
