Con Ed to Inspect Sidewalk Grates

NEW YORK, NY May 19, 2007 —Con Edison plans to inspect some 18,000 sidewalk grates in the city and Westchester County after a woman fell through a grate in Manhattan.
The woman suffered minor injuries after plunging at least 10 feet Thursday morning. Fire officials say she was just inches away from possible electrocution for several minutes, until firefighters pulled her out.
