Clinton Visits Obama's Turf

by Fred Mogul

NEW YORK, NY May 15, 2007 —Presidential hopeful Barack Obama has had some early success scooping up support on the turf of his main rival, Hillary Clinton. Yesterday, Clinton continued to show that she isn’t shy about seeking dollars or votes in Obama’s area. WNYC’s Fred Mogul has more.

Clinton was in Chicago last night, not far from where she was raised in suburban Park Ridge. It was her 2nd visit to the Windy City in 3 weeks – and her 1st time there for a fundraiser, since announcing her candidacy in January. The stop came on the same day that The Chicago Tribune reported a local billionaire from one of the country’s richest families was throwing his weight behind her campaign.

J.B. Pritzer has become the national chairman of Citizens for Hillary, which reportedly “will be charged with grass-roots outreach, fundraising and policy matters.” One of Pritzker’s sisters is Obama’s national finance chairwoman. The family owns Hyatt Hotels and Royal Caribbean Cruises. For WNYC, I’m Fred Mogul.
