Warning Remains for Sewage Leak

WNYC Newsroom

NEW YORK, NY May 08, 2007 —Health officials have extended an advisory for boaters and others who use the Hudson River after millions of gallons of raw sewage leaked into the water. A spokeswoman for the Westchester County Health Department says they haven't seen any health problems related to sewage. But, the department will continue the advisory until it can gather more data on the discharge.

On Friday, a pipe leaking sewage into the Hudson was discovered in Yonkers. Workers spent the weekend fixing the pipe. The pipe ruptured when a hillside broke off and slid down, carrying trees with it.
