Clinton Fundraiser Brings Crowds
by Fred Mogul
NEW YORK, NY April 24, 2007 —More than 1,500 people ponied up $100 or more last night at a rally for Hillary Clinton at the Hudson River Warehouse Piers. WNYC’s Fred Mogul was there.
It was casual, it was loud, and it only lasted about half an hour. Rock ’n’ roll and bottles of beer warmed up the standing crowd, which cheered loudly for pop star Vanessa Carlton, Campaign Chairman Terry McAuliffe, and former president Bill Clinton, who brought up his wife and daughter.
Senator Clinton launched into a broadside on the Bush administration, but was even less specific than usual when talking about healthcare, education and energy independence. It was not an occasion for getting into the nitty-gritty of politics or policy. Many audience members said they were inspired by the performance but many also said there are a lot of good candidates to choose from and there’s still plenty of time. For WNYC, I’m Fred Mogul.
