Obama Makes 2nd New York Trip
by Elaine Rivera
NEW YORK, NY April 09, 2007 —Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama arrives on Senator Hillary Clinton's turf once again as he holds 4 private fundraisers in the city today. WNYC's Elaine Rivera reports.
REPORTER: Obama, the freshman Illinois Senator, hits the top fundraising capital to raise more contributions to add to his already stunning $25 million campaign coffer. He hopes to close in on his top rival, Senator Clinton, who has raised $26 million in her first-quarter take. Political consultant George Arzt says Obama is a serious threat to Clinton's formidable fundraising machine.
ARZT: It comes as a challenge to Hillary, because this is her territory and it's her turf and it's tough to come in, however, he's treated like a rock star here.
REPORTER: But the latest Quinnipiac poll shows Clinton trouncing Obama, 44% to 14% in New York. For WNYC, I'm Elaine Rivera.
