Dealing with Climate Change: New York to Try Capping Carbon Dioxide Emissions
by Amy Eddings
NEW YORK, NY April 05, 2007 —Could power plants be charged if they emit too much carbon dioxide? It's an idea New York wants to try. Starting in 2009, New York will join nine other states in a new program to discourage pollution. The program, the first of its kind, was designed with input from the Natural Resources Defense Council, an environmental group in New York.
As part of WNYC’s ongoing series on climate change, local ATC host Amy Eddings talks with NRDC senior attorney Dale Bryk, who helped come up with the idea.
