Powerful NJ State Senator Indicted on Corruption Charges
by Amy Eddings
NEW YORK, NY March 29, 2007 —Months after a federal monitor found State Senator Wayne Bryant had a no-show job at the state's medical school, U-S Attorney Chris Christie has indicted the powerful Democrat on corruption charges.
Senator Bryant is accused of funneling almost $13 million in state aid to the University of Medicine and Dentistry's School of Osteopathic Medicine, in exchange for a $35,000-a-year position at the school.
WNYC's All Things Considered host Amy Eddings talks about the political ramifications of the indictment with Rider College Political Science Professor David Rebovitch.
