Two Problematic Jewish Characters Get a New Treatment

NEW YORK, NY February 17, 2007 —The actor F. Murray Abraham is currently starring in two plays that are notorious for their depiction of Jews. William Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice, and Christopher Marlowe's The Jew of Malta. The plays run through March 11th at Theater for a New Audience. Eric Molinsky takes a look at how the debate over these plays continues today.
