Film and TV Production Reached Record Highs in 2006

NEW YORK, NY January 23, 2007 —Roll out the red carpet and start smiling – the Oscar race is on! Nominations for the 79th Annual Academy Awards were announced today in Los Angeles.
But it’s not just LA that can get in on the Oscar game. Some of the hottest films of the year were shot right here in New York. In fact, according to the Mayor's Office of Film, Theater, and Broadcasting, film and television production in New York City reached record levels in 2006 with 30,000 shooting days on public property for over 200 films.
Colin Miner, a reporter for the New York Sun looked into the Mayor’s office announcement.
