Dodd Announces White House Bid
WNYC Newsroom
NEW YORK, NY January 11, 2007 —Connecticut's senior senator is setting his sights on the White House. Senator Christopher Dodd has announced he will seek the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination.
On the "Imus in the Morning" show this morning, Dodd said he would forgo an exploratory committee and would "formally file today and become a full-fledged candidate for the presidency."
He says there's a sense that things aren't going as well as they should, both here and abroad. The 62 year old Dodd has served in the Senate for 25 years and is a former Democratic National Committee chairman.
