New York State's highest court today will hear what are likely to be the final arguments in a 13-year-old case over education funding for New York City. Three years ago, a group of parents and education advocates won a landmark ruling finding the state had shortchanged the city's public schools. A judge then ordered the state to provide the city with an extra $14 billion over five years.
But the state appealed that remedy and now, the Court of Appeals in Albany will hear arguments from both sides. WNYC's Beth Fertig has been covering the case and joins me now. Good morning.
