NJ Transit and Amtrak Reach Deal on Rail Sharing

NEW YORK, NY September 14, 2006 —New Jersey Transit and Amtrak have reached a new deal on how they share the rail lines from Trenton to New York.
REPORTER: New Jersey transit executive director George Warrington says a key part of the deal was eliminating his railroad's insurance liability.
WARRINGTON: The cost of insurance these days is quite pricey and this is one of of those methods of driving down the costs over time.
REPORTER: The two railroads also agreed to improve the Northeast Corridor's reliability. Last spring, power went out, causing havoc from Boston to Washington DC.
