Clinton Beats Anti-War Activist by Wide Margin

by Beth Fertig

NEW YORK, NY September 13, 2006 —Unlike just about every other candidate facing a challenge yesterday, Hillary Clinton chose Nnot to hold a victory party last night. She beat union organizer and anti-war activist Jonathan Tasini by a wide margin.

REPORTER: Clinton refused to debate Tasini and he had trouble getting his message out. But he told a crowd of supporters that he was proud of his campaign because it provided a platform for voters opposed to US policy in Iraq.

TASINI: And the reason we started the campaign was one simple reason, was that thousands more new Yorkers wanted to stand up to this immoral and illegal war.

REPORTER: Clinton will now face Republican former Yonkers Mayor John Spencer in November. Spencer defeated former Pentagon official KT Macfarland. He says New York deserves a Senator who is focused on issues close to home, not taking the White House.
